exactly - I’d much rather have that MR2 from a “I’m actually going to drive it” perspective. The Stratos is gorgeous but the ergo is horrible...

Someone rolled up in one at the last lemons race i was at. I’m assuming to make the dude who showed up with a 720S jealous.

I’d be happy with a replica for 1/10 the price.

Very nice, but quite likely to be a replica (Transformer/Hawk): look at the wheels, at the mirror with an extra extending arm. Also shutlines way too good for an original one (I am not joking.)
I’d love to build a Transformer/Hawk Stratos some day.

Well, it’s complicated.
That’s a Lister-Bell. They substantially reengineered the suspension spec of the Stratos (the chassis is also stiffer) and it is probably a better
car
than an original one (in longevity, reliability and quality terms). Suspension-wise the Transformer/Hawk one uses all the “correct” items from the Fiat/Lancia parts bin so its result is closer to the original experience, it seems; in intrinsic quality terms too.
Transformer/HF body parts (based on a mould taken from an original Stratos) are commonly used to restore original ones (which means their quality, again, is also somewhat closer to the original 70s panels). Their wraparound windscreen is also the same as the one in the original Stratos (dunno whether the Corse or Lister-Bell replicas use the same part).
So if you want something that looks practically the same as the real thing but is in fact better all-around you would have to go to the Lister-Bell; if you are trying to experience what a proper Stratos feels like (warts and all) you’d choose a Transformer/Hawk one.
Of course all this is largely theoretical because some kits assembled by Stratos enthusiasts are fabulous and others are absolutely terrible. It seems the workmanship of Lister-Bell-finished cars is excellent; I think Transformer/Hawk could also build you one if you want but people prefer just to buy the parts.
Then you have the thorny question of the engine you are going to put in. By default people use Busso V6s from transverse-engined Alfas and their gearboxes. Transfomer/Hawk also setup the rear cradle so that it would accept a Fiat twincam from a Beta, Ritmo/Strada Abarth, Thema/Croma or similar – needless to say Dino V6s fit perfectly - but I seem to remember Honda V6s, and some Nissan engines are possible, and even Ferrari 308/328/Mondial engines. I imagine Lister Bell and Corse would also offer a wide variety of powerplant choices.
I would love a Transformer/Hawk with a TC engine in spoilerless, spatless early Stradale spec. If poss slightly modified so that it looks like the first running white – later Day-Glo red – twin-wiper prototype (which I understand did use a bialbero powerplant at some stage).
